Bill Farris (left) and Lloyd Goodwin (right) answer questions from 5th graders at Grandview Elementary. Photo and story provided by Cherokee County Conservation District
Cherokee County Conservation District has been delivering trees to rural schools for over 20 years.
Lloyd Goodwin, Vice-Chairman of the board, has been on the Cherokee County Conservation District board for the last 35 years and he delivered the first group of trees to Grand View Elementary school over 20 years ago. The Conservation District purchases the trees and then goes to the rural schools and demonstrates how to plant and care for the trees.
This year, Lloyd Goodwin, Vice-Chairman, Jacy Murphy, Administrative Officer, and Bullit Farris, CREP Conservation Plan writer, delivered 200 Loblolly pine trees to the 4th and 5th grade classes at Grand View Elementary on April 24, 2008.
